We have a fantastic opening for an Electrical Technician to join us to work as part of a great team who are down to earth, knowledgeable and supportive.

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for contributing to an outstanding experience for our students and we welcome applicants that are new to teaching or are currently working in a non-educational sector and are interested in a career change. Our Electrical Technician will also contribute to inspire and motivate students to excel in their field of study and work.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • To support students in the workshop to develop their vocational skills
  • To ensure that the teachers you are working with have the resources and support needed to deliver outstanding lessons
  • To assist the management team and teaching colleagues in delivering high learning value, financially efficient programmes (including physical resource and budget management) and to lead on innovation and efficiency in the delivery of learning
  • To support the behaviour management of students in the workshop and across campus – ensuring their health, safety, wellbeing and conduct is in line with college and departmental policies and ethos
  • To help students develop modern, safe working practices and behaviours – in both technical (vocational skills) and employability skills.
  • To proactively develop and promote close links with employer/industry partners – including suppliers
  • To support supervision and management of students on placements, offsite visits and related activities

Education & Training

 

  • Relevant Level 2 vocational qualification or above
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

 

Experience

 

  • Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to Electrical Installation
  • Experience of pastoral care: trainees, work experience, apprentices, students, colleagues, new employees to the industry/business
