We are looking for a passionate and resilient English Lecturer to join our innovative Adult Skills Department
The purpose of this role is to deliver high quality courses in GCSE and Functional Skills English to 19+ learners in the Adult Skills Department. The post holder will be responsible for designing, delivering and assessing outstanding teaching and learning, focussing on developing learners’ skills and knowledge to raise student aspirations and progression pathways in to further studies or enter employment.
Responsibilities include:
* To teach on courses specified by the Head of Department/Team Leader.
* To participate actively in the development of curriculum; and where appropriate in cross College marketing activities.
* To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
* To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
* To be responsible to the Head of Department/Team Leader for student discipline, counselling and guidance relating to all assigned classes.
* To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
* To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.

Education & Training
* Degree or Equivalent qualification
* Level 5 subject specialism or other appropriate qualification
* A relevant teaching qualification or working towards this qualification.
* GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C)
* GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C)
Experience
* Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programmes.
* Experience of interactive whiteboards and Moodle.
* Experience of delivering FE including assessment with AQA, Ascentis and other awarding organisations
