We are seeking an IT Specialist to join our friendly, customer-focussed IT and Audio-Visual department.

As an IT Specialist, you will be the face of the IT team, providing on-site technical support to Bradford College students and staff. This will include supporting and troubleshooting laptops, PCs, tablets, phones and specialist software & hardware.

Please note that interviews for this role will take place on Thursday 10th July.

Responsibilities include:

  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications

  • Talk staff through a series of actions, both face-to-face and over the phone, to help set up systems and resolve issues

  • Troubleshoot system and basic network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware and software faults

  • Replace parts, as required

  • Create/update user guides, procedures and reports

  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair faults and set up systems

  • Support the testing and roll-out of new applications/technologies

  • Set up and configure new user accounts

  • Respond to call-outs within agreed time limits

  • Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)

  • Prioritise and manage open support cases assigned to them

  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with staff and suppliers

  • Provide cover for the IT Service Desk, as needed

Education & Training 

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

  • IT related qualification or equivalent experience. 

Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of PC support, including Microsoft Office applications and desktop operating systems.

  • Experience of installing, maintaining and repairing PCs.

  • The ability to demonstrate and explain technologies to non-technical users.
