We have an excited opportunity for a talented and engaging EHCP Lead Officer to join our fantastic SEND & ALS department.

Reporting directly the SEND & ALS Manager, the EHCP Lead Officer supports the college in the implementation of the SEN Code of Practice and ensuring the college meets its legal and statutory requirements for SEND students.

The successful candidate will lead in ensuring that all duties/processes in relation to Education Health and Care (EHC) Plans are delivered to the highest standard and ensure there is cross-college awareness of the processes involved and the roles and responsibilities of individuals or departments are clear and maintained.

The EHCP Lead Officer is also responsible for line-managing our Assistant EHCP Officers.

Responsibilities include:

*         Planning and scheduling the timeline of college annual review meetings of college students with EHC Plans, ensuring the team and postholder chair the appropriate number of reviews

*         Working with the EHCP Admin Specialist / Systems & Technology Team Leader to ensure the supporting EHCP administration functions are effective in supporting the work of the EHCP Officers and wider team

*         Leading on the effective use of processes that result in timely responses to consultations on placement of young people with EHC plans can be made; including chairing triage meetings to discuss consultations with key colleagues within SEND and ALS; safeguarding and curriculum.

*         Coordinating the effective transition for young people with EHC Plans, including involvement in reviews within the school setting

*         Monitoring the EHC Plan processes used within college, arranging student and staff feedback processes to flag necessary improvements, via a progress review process.

*         Supporting the preparing for adulthood agenda by promoting an aspirational culture in terms of life after college, including further learning, vocational training, employment or independent living, in line with desired EHC Plan outcomes;

*         Offering advice, guidance and information, referring to appropriate agencies and liaising with College staff as necessary.

*         Providing training and the cascading of resources to teaching and support staff working with students with a range of additional needs.

*         Ensuring timely and effective communication is maintained with all relevant individuals/agencies throughout the review process and update information and responses as required by the relevant Local Education Authority / internal college procedures

*         Being a key point of contact for the department for any potential EHCp related queries prior to or after enrolment. Including attending external feeder schools open days and transition events.

Hybrid working is negotiable for this role. This means you may be able to work a proportion of your time on campus and some remotely. Education & Training

 

*       Appropriate professional qualification or worked experience demonstrating experience in disability, SEND or Additional Learning Support.

*       GCSE 5 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

*       GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if

*       appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

*       Level 2 Safeguarding qualification is desirable but not essential

 

Experience

 

  • Experience of supporting young people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties
  • Experience in interpreting Education Health and Care plans and other evidence to inform support provision
  • Experience of working with children and young people with a range of SEND
  • Experience of liaison with a range of people including parents, carers or other stakeholders

*       Experience of collating, preparing or writing reports including analysing data and reports

*       Experience of working in an educational setting, preferably post-16.
