We have an exciting opportunity for seven lecturers to work with our Learning Innovation Team as Learning Innovators on a 0.4FTE basis.

This is a 2-year seconded role working within the Learning Development & Innovation team, directed by the Learning and Innovation Managers (LIMs) and in partnership with Learning Innovation Leads (LILs). The position will provide critical support to curriculum staff and managers while undertaking initiatives to further develop learning, teaching, and assessment (LTA). This will include, but will not be limited to, one-to-one tutorials, group training sessions/communities of practice, digital resources development, supportive lesson visits and leading on small quality improvement projects/initiatives.

This role will be key in leading the RAISE (Resilience Assessment Innovation Support Engagement) programme with teaching staff.  The RAISE programme is designed to develop teaching staff by using expert coaching techniques for staff when developing innovative practices.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • To support the Curriculum staff, Learning Innovation Managers (LIMs) and Learning Innovation Leads (LILs) to develop LTA practice across the college and improve outcomes for students.
  • To provide pedagogical advice, guidance and support to shape a more creative and innovative approach to curriculum design.  
  • To maximise every opportunity to showcase high-quality LTA, and support and develop a culture of sharing good practice.
  • To support the LIMs and LILs in finding sources of external funding for improving LTA.
  • To ensure appropriate records related to LTA are maintained and available as required by the role.
  • To ensure that action/developmental plans are developed and updated in a timely fashion and are of a high quality.
  • To carry out appropriate analysis of data generated from LTA development initiatives, within given time frames.
  • To embody excellence in standards of LTA whilst visibly promoting the College’s culture and values and acting as a positive role model at all times.
  • Leading and managing small-scale LTA development initiatives within the curriculum, facilitating change and generating ‘best practice’.
  • Demonstrate and maintain highly effective teaching practice.
  • Embed and model excellent and innovative LTA through the use of varied, appropriate and engaging methods and assess their impact.
  • Provide departmental support for the dissemination of evidence-based practice that supports LTA and the student experience.

Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Professional Qualification
  • GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C)

Experience

  • Evidence of a successful track record of Learning, Teaching, and Assessment, including taking an innovative approach to LTA
  • Experience in mentoring academic colleagues.
  • Strong skills in MS 365 and related digital pedagogies.
  • Adept classroom practice and related LTA pedagogies to secure good student outcomes.
