We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Lecturer in Hairdressing & Barbering to join our Professional & Creative Department.
As a member of the Hairdressing and Barbering Team, you will provide a quality, inspirational, learning experience to Hairdressing students that replicates industry standards. You will be a supportive member of the Hairdressing team and embrace future initiatives that will enhance our students’ journey. You will be passionate about providing learning opportunities for all to support students in developing skills and knowledge within the Hair and Barbering industry.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates with a Level 3 Barbering Qualification.

Responsibilities include:
- To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
- To participate actively in curriculum development, and where appropriate, in cross-college marketing activities.
- To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
- To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
- To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
- To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and off-site visits, and activities where appropriate.
- To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning, carried out to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
- To proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department
- To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department
- To contribute to course development and keep up to date with any industry or education reforms. To contribute to the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery
- To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.

Education & Training
- Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Hairdressing and/or Barbering
- A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
- GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent, or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
- Academic or industrial, or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
- Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience in Good teaching/training.
- Experience in student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
- Experience in course leadership responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people with a range of abilities and motivations.
- Ability to work flexibly and effectively as a member of a team.
