This is a fixed term position for 12 months.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • To teach on GCSE and Functional Skills Maths courses specified by the Head of Department/Team Leader within the college and in the community.

  • To participate actively in the development of the curriculum

  • To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students on college courses either in the community or on the college sites.

  • To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners to drive their progress in learning, and to meet/ exceed their targets and enable them to reach their career goals

  • To be responsible for student’s academic progress, wellbeing, positive behaviour and careers throughout their learning journey.

  • To seek out and respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning

  • To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.

  • To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.

  • To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.

  • To participate in relevant Course Committee activities.

*   To undertake invigilation duties as required.

  • To participate actively in the maintenance and promotion of close links with employers and training agencies.

  • To participate in College Open Days; career events and promotional events both on and off College premises.

  • To provide appropriate information to parents/employers through College reporting systems and open evenings.

  • To assist the departmental management team with costings and control of materials and equipment when specified.

  • To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.

Education & Training

*         Level 5 Maths/Numeracy subject specialism

*         Level 5 teaching qualification or working towards this qualification.

*         GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C)

*         GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C)

 

Experience

*         Experience of GCSE Maths and Functional Skills delivery

*         Experience of effectively using educational ILT

*         Experience of delivering FE including assessment

*         Experience of adopting a data driven approach to improving learning, teaching & assessment

*         Good organisational and administrative skills.

*         Experience of delivering outstanding learning & teaching

*         Experience of community delivery
