We have an exciting new Management Accountant position available within our Finance and Procurement Department.
The Management Accountant role supports the delivery of an accounting, reporting and forecasting service to the College. This includes preparing, reviewing and analysing financial information and reports.
This role also supports the Project Team and will provide financial support for a portfolio of business projects (both Capital and Revenue).
The role is integral to improving the financial management and performance of the College.
Responsibilities include:
- To support the operational and strategic direction and development of the Finance Department, including the development and dissemination of timely, accessible and accurate information to support strategic and operational decisions.
- To be responsible for the regular review of project performance with the Projects team and advise on the level of income and expenditure that should be recognised in the college’s management and statutory accounts.
- Financial planning support – To undertake quarterly forecasting of project income and expenditure.
- Produce financial analyses as required by college HoDs and assist with decision-making.
- Ensure income and expenditure are accurately disclosed in the college’s management and statutory accounts.
- To set up and maintain such systems and processes that are deemed appropriate for the effective management and reporting of income and expenditure in the college’s accounts.
- Prepare an initial draft of the monthly finance report for the SLT within the deadlines of the month-end timetable
- Undertaking review and quality assurance processes for the monthly accounts pack.

Education & Training
- CCAB/CIMA fully qualified, or part-qualified and successfully working towards a full qualification
- GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) Or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
- Experience in the public sector
- Experience in budget setting and financial planning
- Experience in producing management accounts, variance analysis and financial reporting
- Experience in participating in the preparation of year-end audits
