Bradford College are currently recruiting for a number of PTHP Ophthalmics Lecturers to join our Health Science, Meditech and Technology department.
Using your passion for the subject you will lead, teach and assist in the development of courses that fall within the Ophthalmics programme and utilise a range of teaching, learning and assessment strategies to allow all learners to achieve their potential.
Please note that these are part-time hourly paid, casual vacancies.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching on courses specified by the Head of Department/Head of School.
Motivating and building self-esteem and self-worth/self-belief, developing a ‘can do ‘attitude with students.
Communicating effectively with employers and stakeholders at appropriate times, conveying relevant information about attainment, objectives and progress.
Participation in open events, professional body/regulatory body and stakeholder meetings as appropriate.
Participating actively in the development of curriculum; and where appropriate in cross College curriculum development.
Participating actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
Devising individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
Devising Plans of Learning for the taught curriculum.
Be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
Act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.
Implementing and promoting College regulations, policies and procedures.

Education & Training
Educated to Degree or appropriate professional standard.
A recognised teaching qualification
A professional registered with the General Optical Council (GoC)
GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.
GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
Academic, professional or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programmes.
Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.
Experience in Good teaching/training.
Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
Experience of course leadership responsibilities.
