We have a fantastic opportunity to join our passionate Learning, Teaching & Innovation Team as a Learning & Innovation Manager.

In this exciting role, you’ll play a key part in raising the quality of teaching and learning across the College. You’ll empower colleagues through supportive coaching, insightful feedback and meaningful professional dialogue — all while delivering impactful, high‑quality training that drives our strategic priorities.

As a leader of our talented team of Teaching & Learning Leads and Innovators, you’ll champion creative, evidence‑informed practice and nurture a culture of continuous improvement.

You’ll also take the lead on innovative projects from concept to completion — bringing fresh ideas to life, enhancing curriculum delivery, elevating digital pedagogy, and enriching the overall student experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Improve the standard of teaching and learning to enhance student progress, experience and achievement.
  • Provide developmental support through coaching, mentoring, professional dialogue and training.
  • Use Quality of Education Review findings to inform training plans and support interventions.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the LEAD model across the organisation.
  • Ensure that targets and indicators linked to teaching and learning are met.
  • Manage and develop Learning Innovator Leads and Innovators, including setting objectives, monitoring progress and supporting performance.
  • Lead the design, piloting, evaluation and successful delivery of innovation projects that improve teaching and learning practices.
  • Contribute to self‑assessment processes, internal audits and Quality Improvement Plans.
  • Support curriculum teams with activities connected to induction, attendance, recruitment and retention.
  • Take part in moderation and standardisation activities to help ensure consistent quality.
  • Work with Heads of Department regarding priorities and planned activity related to teaching and learning.
  • Ensure compliance with College policies, procedures, audit expectations and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Monitor learning environments to ensure they are safe, effective and conducive to high‑quality teaching and learning.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning and Quality Managers and curriculum leaders to share good practice.
  • Maintain a current understanding of pedagogy, curriculum innovation and educational research.
  • Deliver teaching as agreed with the Head of Teaching, Learning & Innovation
  • Liaise with awarding, validating and professional bodies to support continued compliance with external standards.
  • Support assessment, verification and moderation processes across the College.
  • Encourage and support effective use of digital technologies to strengthen teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within teaching and learning practice.

Education & Training

  • A degree or appropriate Level 5 professional qualification
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Academic experience in Further Education, Higher Education and/or Apprenticeship provision.
  • Significant evidence of a successful track record of teaching & learning, including taking an innovative approach to T&L.
  • Experience of improving quality of T&L.
  • Experience of carrying out formal, informal and peer observations.
  • Experience of mechanisms used to evaluate the learning experience.
  • Experience and evidence of developing good quality T&L resources including ILT.
  • Experience of organising and delivering CPD and staff development events related to T&L.
  • Experience of liaising with awarding organisations to ensure the College fulfils their requirements
