We are looking for a passionate and engaging Student Voice Coordinator to join our Student Services Department.

 

The postholder will lead and coordinate the Students’ Union and College’s student representation and engagement, ensuring all students can understand, access, and participate effectively in Students’ Union and College processes. They will oversee democratic processes, elections and the Course Representative system, providing high-quality training, mentoring, and support to elected Officers and student representatives to develop their leadership, skills, and confidence.

 

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • To support Students to understand, navigate and participate in the College and Students’ Union student voice mechanisms and processes.
  • Lead the development and coordination of the Course Representative system, ensuring effective recruitment, training and ongoing support for all course representatives.
  • To provide coaching, mentoring and leadership for the elected Students’ Union officers and executive.
  • Empower and assist Elected Officers in fulfilling their manifesto promises, ensuring they have the support and tools needed to achieve positive outcomes for students.
  • To work with the elected Officers to coordinate an effective programme of face-to-face engagement with students across all College campuses.
  • Maintain and enhance up-to-date knowledge of best practice in student democracy and representation, to inform and drive continuous improvement of the college’s representative structures.
  • To design and administer systems that allow students to engage with the Union through a variety of methods, including digital, i.e. focus groups, conferences, and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the relevant staff to plan and deliver BCSU’s elections cycle, including candidate training and support, and initiatives to boost student participation and engagement.
  • Support the Returning Officer in the effective delivery of all Union Elections.
  •  To coordinate the programme of events and activities that support the Students’ Union student engagement work, including any relevant conferences or meetings.
  • To develop new initiatives that enable us to effectively listen to and act upon student feedback.
  • Develop positive and productive working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
  • Establish effective processes for tracking and analysing student issues, using this insight to strengthen and demonstrate the impact of student voice across the college.
  • Develop and implement engaging methods to showcase the impact of student representation and democracy, effectively communicating the value and outcomes of student voice activities.
  • Collaborate with college teams, committees, and departments to strengthen and embed student representation across all relevant areas of activity.
  • Work to uphold the values of transparency, trust and impartiality in all aspects of student voice, ensuring that student representation and democratic processes are fair, open and accountable.
  • To ensure full Student representation across the range of appropriate College committees and working groups
  • To produce Student Voice reports aligned with the College quality cycle.
  • To ensure that Student Voice requirements are documented in all Student Services Service Level Agreements

Education & Training

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, or comparable experience in a relevant field.
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Experience of working or volunteering in an education, training, or support services setting
  • Experience of planning, delivering and facilitating group work sessions
  • Experience of contributing to the development and implementation of strategies
  • Experience of delivering innovative project work.
  • Experience of supporting others to achieve positive outcomes
  • Experience of designing and delivering training.
  • Experience of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in designing and implementing administrative systems and processes
  • Experience of using social media channels
  • Experience of administering online systems
